The bloodline I use in my program all go back to my original bloodlines that I worked a few generations on myself back from 2016 to 2010, they have some new blood crossed into them which was variberk that has introduced the blaze marking. I did however lose the merle gene I was working with back then, as it was washed out of the persons program that I placed most of my breeding stock with in 2010. I may add a new merle gene or something "new" in time, once I spend enough time working with what I have to get a good understanding of what is now coming through the genes.
I will not be breeding for dalmations, whites ( as the few Siamese I get will be as white as I produce ). I also will not be breeding for pearls or hairless, I may still get these from time to time however. My goals are to select for rats with lots of body color and slight flashy marking and the few Siamese that come about in litters. I selected all the rats myself out of MANY rats for their calmness, health history and for also knowing what some had produced. I brought home with me 9 rats and kept 4 of the 9 to work with, as the 5 I retired I kept their offspring to work with as they were some of the best producers.
The rats I am working with now, I am already working on my 2nd generation from them and soon to be third and really like what I see. There is a very large gap of 5-9 generations from where I left off my recent breedings to where I am picking up now, however I do see a lot of the same traits I was breeding for back then still coming through the rats I have here now. The nice BIG heavy bodies, wide skulls in my dumbos and the same great coats in my velveteen rex's which I used to call teddy rex back then. The same very calm characters, they all traveled a great distance in opened bared cages sitting with a big nosey dog on their way to my home and were not bothered one bit, and have never seen or smelt other animals.
My rats are all registered with N.A.R.R (North American Rat Registry) to help with record keeping. (pending)
